please help
ok heres the deal. sometimes i start my car and it fires right up runs fine and strong. eventually the car will pic up a really rough idle and start to stahl. when this happens i have to hold the gas down and keep the car at like 1500 rpm or it will stahl. and sometimes i start the car and it just idles rough and stahls no ses light or anything to clue me in what could this be?

someone looked at it and said it might be the fuel pump going bad i think im just gonna buy a new iac sensor because it looks pretty ugly from the outside let alone inside

i just bought the car i havent had much time to do anything to it. i will have to set up a pressure gaugeand look at it where is the fuel filter located?

i have 2 haynes and a chilton i just diddnt think to look in them. would a clogged catylatic convertor cause a car to run like this? because my cat is really bad and i just bought headers and an exhast last nighht i just have to find the time to put them in

Anything possible, of course. But I seriously doubt it.
If it runs decently at 1500 rpm when you put your foot on the gas, it sounds to me lke the problem is in the idle circuit.
Is the problem only occuring at idle speeds? That is, does the car run normally when you're driving it around, say crusing at 2000 rpm or under hard throttle. If yes, then I'd rule out the fuel filter and fuel pump. In addition, it would really indicate that the problem is with the IAC motor.
By the way, before you go into the IAC motor, how do your spark plugs look? Any of them fouled?

im not sure about the spark plugs im probably going to buy new ones tomorrow and install them with the headers while i have it apart to put the headers in yea the car runs fine above idle and sometimes runs fine at idle but sometimes i have to hold the pedal to keep the car running
