will vortec heads work with edelbrocks hi flow intake

im building a 383 stroker and would like to use the vortec heads. will the edelbrock hi flow intake work with these heads with no machining? will these heads out flow a fully ported set of L-98 heads? and does anyone know what size combustion chambers are on the L-98 heads?

the edelbrock TPI base will not fit Vortec heads. You're going to need the SDPC (Scoggin Dickey) base to fit the vortecs.

i do understand that they wont fit because of the bolt pattern but my local machine shop has a template to drill the extra bolt holes. my concern is with the taller intake runners. will the edelbrock intake have to be machined for the extra clearance?

the SDPC tpi vortec lower intake is made by Edelbrock. I would the port design is also a little different. I would recommend getting the proper intake

Vortec head ports are as tall as a Felpro 1206 gasket, they will not match your intkake, sorry!

Not like it isn't possible to have the intake ported out and have metal added to the ports to make it a 1206 size. I know because I bought one used that had this done.

It still won't flow as good as the intake that is designed to work with the Vortecs.

Sure you could play Ring Around the Rosy all day long with your intakes but why bother, just do it right the first time and forget about it!
