o-ring

I had my fuel lines dissconnected where it goes into the fuel lines on the fuel rail. When I was going to hook them back up I noticed one of the o-rings had come off. Are these available anywhere? Or should I just get an o-ring assortment at the parts store and find one that fits?

Thanks

Make sure you get the right type of O ring. The Viton O rings are the ones you want, don't just use a cheap rubber O ring in your fuel system.

I've heard a couple stories (and 2 million repeats) of normal rubber o-rings leaking. Is that the only potential problem? I've had normal rubber o-rings in my fuel rail for over a year with absolutely no problems so far.

You'll be OK for a while, but eventually they will harden and fail. The rubber doesn't hold up to heat and will break down from the gas over time. The Viton O rings have a life expectancy of twenty years, and are imperious to most chemicals, But I do seem to remember something about Ethanol shortening their life.

The GM dealers in my area actually had them in stock. I decided to replace the one I did not lose also, due to age. I had my next door neighbor pick them up for me, since he works at a dealership, with his discount I got one for 37 cents and the other for 47 cents, I had him get two of each just to have an extra on hand.
