I searched around a bit, and found their website.

http://www.micro-tech-auto.com/maf.htm

I'm interested - has anyone tried one?

That is my concern, as they have a 0 ebay history, and it seems no one has tried them yet. I was interested as well

Looks like the Wells unit without the screen, and for more money.

Not to mention he lists it as working for an 85 and there is no resemblance to the one on my 85 what so ever.

Yeah, but if they recieved a patent for their design, then it must be different, right? If they were pulling a TPIS and just reselling someone elses part, they wouldn't have been able to patent it.

I actually have the first one made. I found that the non-adjustable MAF from Micro-Tech reported a higher voltage at every airflow than my stock MAF. With the adjustable MAF, I could turn this voltage down so the ecm was getting the correct reading and using the appropriate MAF table value (this eliminated the rich condition caused by a false high MAF reading).

Two changes I had to make in the prom: increase the MAF high error value from 45 to 65gm/sec and increase the MAF vs rpm table values by 20%. I'm using the ARAP, $6E mask.

I am very happy with this MAF but I had to make the above changes to use it to it's fullest potential.

All of the "hot wire" MAF's looked alike, the 85 had a little bit different circuitry, it used a pulsed voltage instead of a steady DCV signal.

$300? It looks like the same setup as the Wells, and if you want adjustability that bad you can wire a potentiometer to the wells. Personally I see no advantage to having the adjustability if they could have gotten it to produce the proper voltages in the first place.

I've owned an 85 and I have an 86 and a 89, there isnt any visible difference in any of them.

And yes, that looks just like a Wells with no screen.

I took a picture of the 85 MAF right next to the newer style and right next to the Wells. The 85 looks the same inside, except that the wire is a c-hair thicker.

The screens on the 85 are very different however, and can be used to identify it as such.
