tested injectors......WTH is up with this???

I drove the car to work today on all 7 cylinders .....got out of the car and smelled like pure gas. At the end of the day i decided to check the injectors with my digital volt meter, put the meter to 200 on the omega scale, understanding my injectors should be between 11 and 14 ohms. (Well first should i say, should the car be on or off when i am trying to do this? ) Anyways really doesn't matter because with the ignition on (not running) the highest i pulled off of any of the injectors was 3.6 ohms...lowest 1.9 . So i thought maybe the car should be running when i test this so when i tried that, it jumped sporadically up and down anywhere from 7 ohms to 18 ohms. I only tried two injectors that way because by then , i'de had enough . Anyways i pulled the wire off from the coil to the distributor and check it to make sure the continuity was fine in both wires.(which it was) Plugged it back in, and when i left the car was running alot better (still not right) but doesn't shudder like the cylinder is completely down, runs alot smoother, still lack of power and throttle response. Anyone have any suggestions on what gives on that

To check the continuity of the injectors you need to unplug the connector from the injector and check it between the terminals in the injector. I would also check the continuity of the plug wires and pull the plugs to see if any are overly dark and/or fuel/oil fouled.

Brand new plugs, brand new 8.8 accel wires...that's what i did i unplugged the injector and probed both teminals of the injector plug. Right? right?

The injector side not the wiring harness side.

Okay this is what i came up with........
( i am reading injectors per above cylinder)

(ohms)

cylinder #2...... 16.2 cylinder #1...... 16.3
#4...... 16.3 #3...... 16.4
#6...... 16.4 #5...... 16.1
#8...... 16.2 #7...... 16.3

Keep in mind i have no idea what size injectors these are, but i thought they were only to be between 11 and 14 ohms......aren't these readings to high

With all the number so close, i'd say it's more likely that your ohmmeter is just not accurate to single ohms

Also keep in mind that the resistance will change a little with due to the temperature of the injector.

Mabey so Ed , i don't know.......I bought the digital volmeter from the home depot the brand is IDEAL , not the best voltmeter they had but not the low end either.....it ran be about $80. When i tested the injectors the car was cold, hadn't been started for about 8 or so hours.

That is perfectly acceptable...and the bigger key is that all the injectors are relatively close to each other (within an ohm or so)...a failed injector or two usually has a radically different resistance than the others...

I'm not knocking your meter, i'm sure it's fine. No ohmmeter you can just buy off the shelf is accurate on such a low scale. Well unless you're shopping in a store with some REALLY nice shelves.

My point was, your numbers are not way out of whack. They did not ALL very slightly fail exactly the same amount. With injectors you're basically either looking for a very low resistance showing an internal short or a very high resistance showing a break. You look fine.

Ed i knew you weren't knocking my ohmeter i was just saying what ohmeter it was, cause for all i know about ohmeters, it could be a piece of crap. Anyways i am thinking now my problem might be a clogged injector. I might just go ahead and replace all 8 of them since i have no idea what size they are.
