383hp guestimate

i want to install an 383engine into my gta.the engine has a lingenfelter cam(219?),afr 195 heads(ported) and the superram intake.he says it made 400+hp at the crank in his vette, thru stock exhaust and paperfilter.is this possible?how much hp/tq should this combo make?do i have to upgrade the stock fuel pump?what should the car run in the quarter(2000stall,th700)?thanks for yuor opinions.

See sig. It should make over 400HP at the crank w/ 383 cid, and run high 11's, with headers/exhaust/tuning/sticky tires.

Streetabilty is great, very mild combo.

No need to upgrade the stock fuel pump, but it wouldn't hurt to get a better one when your's starts to go out. If you plan on nitrous, defenitely upgrade the pump.

wow man, that would be quite the same setup as yours. and yes i want to keep it streetable, think will spray on it. all forged bottomend ,and nitrous already installed on the current l98.have sprayed apprx.20 bottles of 200shot yet,and the l98s gettin a little tired(lot electronic problems )but for this engine i want to start with an 150shot or so,its very a costy thing.do you know if my edelcrap hedders will fit the afr heads?and whats the tq difference between a 350 and an 383?

Yeah, I'm using the Edelbrock's too. The 1 5/8" shorties. Probably not optimal for performance, but they will work.

I don't have firm numbers on the tq diff, but I would think maybe 35 ft-lbs and 35 HP more compared to a 350? Just a guess, could be way off. I know I've seen C4's go 11.5 @ 116-117 with this combo on 383's, but they are lighter than us.

I'm shooting for 11.80-95 @ 113-114 once mine is tuned, then going for a 150 shot and hopefully 10's. My car is full weight and I weigh 280lbs, so it is making some decent power for such a mild combo. I would think a 383 could do a little better. I honestly think this combo is too mild, and if/when I do another build-up, I'm going much more radical. Of course, I built this to be my daily driver, and now it just gets driven on the weekends and street/strip racing.

thats cool

my car aint full weight no more i stripped down apprx.300pds,but anyway.i dont want to offend you,but 112mph trap speed seems alittle low to me.i think you should be in the 116zone..thats cool we both have te same goals,performance-wise .and the edelbrock headers arent that bad .my engine will be in the car in jan.04.let me know how youve done with the juice.

I agree, 112 mph is not a spectacular mph, my lid/catback LS1 does 109 MPH. But you have to remember that this is a HEAVY car w/ me in it. And the motor has no tuning. With weight redux and tuning, I bet it could see 116 mph. Also, this combo is not for making high HP, it's a very mild, tq motor that can easily be daily driven. I've been happy with the results so far though with this combo. I honestly didn't think it'd be this quick. I thought mid 12's would be about the limit, even with tuning.

Longtube headers and a 2,400 stall would further compliment your setup! Should be pretty strong.
