New TPI combo....opinions welcomed

Ive come up with a new streetable combo that Im going to do with my stock 350TPI. Here's the list

Stock block bored .030
Stock crank
GMPP rods
KB flat top pistons

Stock heads(ported runners/polished chambers)
2.00/1.55 valves with 3angle valve job
TPIS bigmouth intake
Stock runners siamesed 2"
Crane H-272-2 compucam(.454/.480 lift 216/228dur@.050)
1.6RR's

24lb injectors
custom PROM

Hooker 2055's with custom dual cat Ypipe
3in Flowmaster ForceII catback.....

Thats what I have so far. I was thinking about going with Vortec heads, but its more fun trying to get high 12's from "stock" equipment...or as much stock as possible anyway. Im not looking for a speed demon as it will probably never make it to the track. IM just looking for a good torquey street friendly driver that is fun to drive. Opinions are always welcomed.......

Your stock 22lbs will support the power. I have an 350 TPI with TF heads and the LT4 cam and superram and I had room to grow. Also it looks good but I would go with cam with more lift. Maybe the 213 LPE cam or ZZ9

Thanks for the input. I thought about going with a larger lift cam....but with stock heads and semi-stock intake....I dont see the need for anything over .500 lift. The reason I have the 24lb SLP's is because my stock 22lb went south And for $99 I couldnt go wrong.

You'll knotice that the AL and Cast L98 heads are the same design - the cc. With the heads off screw in studs would be a nice addition. If you look in a few mags stock vortech heads are running cams .525 and up with the 1.96 /1.50 valves and and the Al L98's cleaned up and bigger valves are using some of lingenfelters cams in upwards of .560 Lift.

L98 heads into the low 12s??? on the motor???? were they ported extensively??? I can see very well ported L98s going low 12s with TPI, but even then it's rare! low 12s with aftermarket heads, ZZ9 cam, and TPI is possible though.

I actually have that issue...I can scan it if somebody would like to read it. They used Alum L98 heads that were modified by CNC cylinder heads out of Florida. They used a TPIS bigmouth intake, large tube runners and 52mm TB. Heres a list of what they used....

Stock block
Stock plenum
Stock Alum(88-91) L98 heads modified by CNC cyl heads
ZZ9 cam with 1.6RR's
TPIS big mouth intake, runners and 52mm TB
24 lb injectors and custom PROM
Random tech high flow cat and catback
Edelbrock emission legal headers

TCI street fighter 700R4
3.42 gears

They ran a best time 12.384 @111.06mph.....not bad for a TPI....

lol, not bad at all. the heads are a bigger restriction than the TPI I would think! nice numbers indeed.
