I bought it from Summit. Look in the fuel injection/tpi section. I believe its an LT1 elbow.

Summit now has them in black as well, which is what I would have prefered. It also has an opening on the left side in the pic for some kind of sensor which I didnt have so I've got a rubber tapered plug in it. I didnt want some cheesy black plastic elbow so I paid good money for this one.

Yes I believe so...you can call summit and ask. I cant remember. My intake is flared to 3 1/2".

Commander Ryker is #1...I am the Capt. I may have to send a Borg after you if you get it wrong again. They are not very nice to deal with...

Why are there no Transam pictures here.Has anybody fitted the HSR to a TA and managed to shut the hood without any mods?
Mine is on its way and thats the only problem i can envisage.

cheers

it'd have to be an aftermarket hood, or mods are mandatory. That's why i went with the LT1 intake. I love the HSR idea, but could bring myself to cut on my hood. It'll be fine with the hood mods though. Only other option i can think of is lowering the motormounts with some other type of mount, or machining on the intake itself.

Ive been a regular visitor to the stealthram site and have been in touch with Jerod.
I realise i'll need to cut the hood bracing out but will this be enough.I will be using standard engine mounts and not poly ones.

Thanks

good to hear, of more guys out there with the hsr on pontiacs. When I put myne on my formula, I'm putting my factory 6 cylinder hood from a '84 firebird on my car, with some cutting of the inner bracking. It will clear the HSR, and I won't have a problem, I'm putting a 5" scoop on it from glastek and pick up some subtle looks, that are tasteful. Its funny that I'm going with that hood, it just looks so good for the car, alot of the other ones, I don't think fit the body lines as well, especially for the money.

I noticed that your from IL. How can you run HSR, and still pass emissions? I'm planning a 350 swap, but skipped the HSR idea b/c I've read it won't pass and isn't emissions legal. Where I'm at, it only goes through the sniffer, but I'm not about to do all that work and spend all that money, and it's not going to pass!

Also, how much power to the rear is the tpi going to throw down now w/ the HSR?

I've seen cars with no cats pass emissions. They weren't running optimized timing/fuel curves, or a big cam or anything, but it can be done. You can just change chips after your testing.

well, since they don't look under your hood in joliet, or the downers grove emissions stations, they test your gas cap, and put your car on the dyno and check emissions at driving between 25-55, and if you pass that, your good. Theres no visual.

However, I have a waiver so I don't have to take emissions, at all since the car is driven less than 3K miles a year, and is insured as a show car, driven for recreation only, not for taking to work or school.

Of course you can drive it to work or school, its unlikely that a cop would pull you over and ask you, since the plates are the same as any other.

The egr, doesn't help you pass, it simply works at partial throttle, and works off the idea of using combustion gases, to cool the chambers, silly idea, works, but isn't needed.

Just to prove the point that the egr isn't needed, I passed emissions with the timing advanced, tps turned up, and the egr disconnected, no vacuum solenoid at all, still passed better than my moms 92 lumina, with a new dynomax cat, and myne passed with 25000 on the cat, and passed with lower emissions, OUT OF A V8!!! It was amazing.

I passed emissions without my AIR pump and EGR. There is a lot more to emissions then emissions equipment.

Nape: What else is there besdies the emissions equipment then?

So, basically, you guys are saying, any car will pass emissions, and will not even need the equipment to do it?

No, any car cannot pass emissons without equipment. It's just that a well-tuned car can. Of course a 130,000 mile motor with 20% leakdown in three cylinders isn't going to pass emissions without help.

Hey guys!!!

I am on a tight budget all of the time and that gets frustrating when you have to constantly teardown and put back together.
Anyways I have decided to go with the HSR and i like it all ready even on top of the STOCK ewwww L98 heads and cam and manifolds. The shift point has moved up to 5200 - 5400 RPM
And i can feel the potetial that this Manifold will have. I unforutnatly have to drive it daily right now which cuts into working on the car over a period of time. The unexpected self destruction that my other car undergone ment that i couldnt take my time and do everything that i wanted to right now. Either way here are my work in progress pictures, mods, and soon to be mods. Please tell me what you think.

1987 Formula 350 TPI

Current Mods:

HSR Manifold
Modified 89 ARAP Prom
30lb accell Injectors
52mm Holley Throttle Body
1.6 Comp cam Stamped Roller tip Rockers (FREE)
Coolent Bypass Mod
A/C Delete
Smog delete
Converter delete
Custom (work in progress) air intake
Rebuilt 700r4 trans cant remeber what stall
B&M megashifter
B&M stage two shift kit
Flowmast Muffler

Hopefully in the near future mods:

AFR 195 heads
Still thinking about Cam
Headers
Subframe connectors
And lots of custom prom burning

Wonderbar and lower control arms to be installed next weekend

I do have a question for everyone, If i should stick with cutom prom burning (amature) Or go with a holley commander type setup.

Please let me know what you think and remeber it is work in progress.

Hey cron,

Where do you live? I swear that one of the girls on your CarDomain page lives right down the street from me. The second Shannon.

I'm in Homer Glen.

Anyway, when my HSR gets here I'll have you help me install it if you do live close.

Thanks for all the pics and info from anyone else.

I'm on the outskirts of homer glen, almost into new lenox, if you ever want to hang out dude, look me up on aim, Formula3Fity, I'd be up for a cruise, or if you want to come out to the track with me or the dudes in my club, I'm probly going out to the steak and shake off harlem today. OH yeah shannon sullivan is hot as hell, ttyl bro, nice installs guys, I'm ordering some edelbrock coated shorties, then a cam, and a stealthram intake for my L98 Iroc, I chirped third last night on cedar road, man the porting I did to my base, has made a huge difference, it pulls in third up to 90 almost as good as it does in second, I'm curious to see what it will run a 66 the way it is right now.

Nice, I've got a spare TPI setup in the garage right now that I'm porting out. I'd probably have the bastard done if I could quit breaking bits on my dremel. After that I'm working on an LT1 heads/intake/cam setup that ought to rock. I just hope I can keep the stock short block alive with 161k miles on it. lol

I put Edelbrock shorty headers on my car last week and the butt dyno tells me that the car gained a ton of power throughout the powerband. I'm going to try to make it out to RT66 on Tuesday. I start a new job on Monday so hopefully I won't have to stay that late. I'll probably end up going straight from work.

I'll PM you my cell number in case you end up going. Maybe we can get together and shoot the **** in the staging lanes. Oh, if you need any tuning done after the HSR install, I've got an AutoProm setup too. All you would need would be a Moates adapter and a chip.

Anyway, I'll TTYL.
