Painting TPI
Just got my 350 TPI out of my '92 Formula to go into a '72 Nova. I'm debating whether or not to paint the TPI plenum/runners and the valvecovers. I was originally going to go with a flat black, which is what the Nova will most likely be. But now I'm not sure......
I've seen plenty of Chevy Orange TPI systems, but that's it other than stock silver. Has anyone else painted their TPI system?
BTW, here's the engine after we got her out:

Lots of stuff!! lol
I started by painting the baseplate black, along with the runners, plenum, and throttle body (I then sanded the paint off of the Tuned Port Injection Lettering).. Also, I painted the valve covers black (and I used aluminum paint on the bolts; it actually came out real nice--good contrast)...
I re-o-ringed the fuel rail and painted the hard lines aluminum (the factory has like a light greyish paint on them)..
I painted my edelbrock aluminum water pump black (and again sanded the raised Edelbrock lettering)... All pulleys got cleaned and painted black (I used chrome bolts for the water pump/smog pump pulley for more good contrast)... The water neck got a fresh coat of aluminum paint...
The manifolds got some flat black exhaust paint (they don't offer it in a gloss format).. I also painted some little things like the bracket in the first picture that attaches the fuel lines to the power steering pump bracket...
Everything came out real nice... I liked the contrasting of the white, black and aluminum (the aluminum fuel rail looks neat behind the gloss black runners)...
I have an extra alternator sitting around that I'm gonna take apart and paint the casing in the same scheme...

I really like the black, but I'll try to go as black as possible...no aluminum paint etc....

Some nice setups in here....... still deciding whether to paint or not. Just cleaned the valve covers real good with degreaser...shiny :hail:
Will clean TPI runners/plenum, throttle body, and fuel rail, then see how it looks. Bought some hi-temp paint, but later found out that it must be cured at 650* for 60 minutes or the paint might rub off........

That high temp paint will work fine on most anything except exhaust... I used the high temp engine paint on all my stuff this time, and I've used it in the past with success...

Wow.. Thats neat if you can keep it clean (sounds like you thought about that and are able to!)... About the paint, no, I didn't cure it, and I used the duplicolor engine enamel (600* I think)... No problems before.. The really hot stuff also worked for my exhaust manifolds without curing (so far so good, just make sure to put on MANY coats)...

? But it's the only one on this thread and I wanted it to be "MY"
set up. I like the beefed up look, but I'll NEVER use their intake again. I did only for the dual EGR set up cause I converted to vette heads. BTW it's laquer I used. Looks good but it chips VERY easy.

It's painful looking at that yellow bird. I have never seen a yellow early 90s bird. Any plans to put it back together?

Too bad. What don't you like about it? Perhaps someone here will buy it as a rolling chasis. Otherwise, I might be interested in some of the parts.

Let me know what you need and I'll see if I still have it.

When I get my TPI all done, I'm gonna polish the runners, plenum, and manifold, but paint the plenum groves the same blue that my car is.

Do they make hi-temp clearcoat? Painted the plate on top of the TB black...don't want it to rub off so I figure clearcoat'll do the trick.
