New!!!! Gms Maf!

I dont know if anyone has seen this yet, but GMS came out with a TUNEABLE MAF for the 85-92 ecu. Here is the link. I know where to get it for less then that though.

Damn, $451?

I talked to ed wright on Friday. He said that there is a switch in the $6E code that goes from freq to digital or volts, and that he hasn't had time to play with it/tune a car with it yet. I asked him if I he could make a 3.5" LS1 maf sensor work with $6E and he said he could try. I could go down to tulsa and have him try it, and my car would be the guinea pig, but I'm still thinking about it. I think it would be worth it to have some more options besides going aftermarket or switching to the 730. Those sensors aren't cheap though.

Ok, I found this site. One of the advantages you get is that you can tune the engine without a chip. Kinda like the Maf+ tuners for the LTx and LSx engines.

Pretty cool, that beats the heck out of tuning with fuel pressure.

From what I have been told, it is the same size as stock.

The main problem w/ the stock size mafs on these cars isn't that they only read to 255 g/sec, but that the 2.5" isn't big enough for good hp numbers. It starts becoming an restriction too much. That is why it would be sweet to run a 3.5" LS1 Maf...

So is this like the GM MAF and convertor thing that the DSM guys use, but in the stock MAF housing that our cars use?

Well, lets think here.

We can adjust the fuel pressure on our 3rd gen cars. The LS1 cars can not do that. By adjusting the fuel pressure, we can directly affect the WOT AFR, which is a big plus and we dont need to burn a chip for that.

I think that the adjustable MAF sensor for TPI cars is not a big boom to us, but the increased air flow would be. So, to me, the big advantage here is the increased air flow. BUT, if its the same inside diameter, how can it flow 30% more air as advertised????

I need to figure out some way to get more air without switching to speed density. I am currently biulding a 395 cu in SBC for my '87 IROCZ.
