i need a cheaper alternative...i really cant cough up the cash for a new TPI harness
if any one know how to get around buying a new harness please tell me. there has to be a way (i hope) to splice the tpi harness to mine and get rid of what i dont need from the tbi set up. im on a tight budget and i pretty much tapped out on a cam, headers, air foil. and adj fuel pressure regulator. hell i even scrapped the 3 inch flowmater cat back from it, and cat co cat. to about an hour with the mig but i got it. anyway if anyone knows a way around buying a new harness please let me know. im up to my neck in wires here. thanks
It will be way more headaches than it's worth.
With that said, if you really insist on doing it, the only way is going to be to get a full schematic for each vehicle, and start cutting and soldering.
What exactly is it you are trying to do? Are you converting to TPI from TBI?

Umm... are there no wiring gurus around here?
I'm putting a TPI setup in my '86 RX7, using the stock harness. There's a grand total of 10-15 wires that must be connected. The TPI system is nearly standalone stock. Those Painless, etc. harnesses just make it a little easier for you. As was said, you'll need to compare schematics between the two, but it's really not all that tough. Basically a matter of your power and ignition wires. You'll also need to make sure you have a compatible VSS. I say all this tongue in cheek, as my car isn't running yet.
Seriously though, it is easy to mess stuff up if you're not careful, have some practice with wiring/soldering first. I've done 20+ stereo installs (I'm talking full vehicle installs), 5 or so remote start setups, custom push button start, etc, so my opinion of easy and yours may be different. If you're not comfortable putting in a remote start yourself, don't bother with trying to setup the harness, they're about the same difficulty.

It sounds like he has a tbi harness that he is attempting to convert and make work with the tpi setup. If thats the case, really all he can do is get ahold of the two schematics, find out what different sensors and plugs he will need, and solder them all up.

I just put tpi in my 87 chev 4x4, I bought a 87 camaro for 450$ and pulled the tpi and harness out, used the harness out of the camaro, got rid of a lot of **** off the harness , truck runs very good, does not stall out but tries to die when it is put in gear, all I have left is to face the vss issue.
