AFR heads

Im planning on getting them. My question is are the 195's too big for this setup:
LPE 219 cam
Extrude honed edelbrock base
Ported and siamesed plenum and runners

Any suggestions,

Thanks

And i do plan on getting the CC milled down, I plan on using a zz shortblock, so i was planning on 58cc or smaller. Any suggestions on this also.

I think those will be just fine for the mods you are and want.

Make sure that you order the 72cc heads if you are planning to have them milled to 58cc. The 68cc heads have closed chambers, and therefore shroud the valves when milled. The 72cc are open chamber heads, and are preferable for milling. This information is straight from Ted at AFR.

I actually called AFR also and was told 2 things:
1. If you want a torquey engine, go with the 180s. They flow as good as their old 190s and can support 500 hp.
2. For a higher RPM engine, go with the 195s. You would lose torque but make more hp.
That is what I was told.

NO KIDDING! That's good to know!

No warnings about clearance problems or gasket matching to the intake?

do not get the centerbolt valve cover option. AFR do not machine them right and they will leak. Get the standard and older 4-bolt valve cover pattern. Get the L98 angle plug option.

Mine are 60cc which is a good comprimise in combustion chamber size if I ever go to a stroked engine You can grind on the manifold or grind on the heads. AFR doesn't machine their centerbolt heads right.

If you are sticking with LTRs and will never-ever change your mind you'll be fine with the 180s. If you want to go to a SR, HSR, or MR get the 195s.

C'mon James, we both know you'll be stroking more than your engine

I've already decided to ditch the slp's. I was gonna try to save money and hack the SLP's like kevin and Jerry did, but since i have neither the time, equipment nor skills, i decided to go with the super ram and be done with it.

BTW, AFR is in pacoima which is about a 45 min drive from here. Will AFR allow me to pick them up to save on shipping charges?

yep, you can pick them up and save on shipping. I ordered mine direct from them. I picked them up on my lunch break. It took me an hour to go there and pick them up.

James, u are really dissapointing me, not even a comeback for that stroking comment, u are slipping dawg.

U get one hell of a lunch break. Us lowly trailer trash only get 42 min (give or take 20 min)
