injectors

how do you determine what injectors to run with what motor combination....?

i'm only running 30lb injectors but i have the regulator all the way down and i'm at roughly 30 psi with vacum hooked up and i'm super rich. is there a way to find out if i was suggested the wrong size?

You'll wanna get a scanner and see what your PW's are at idle.

Then burn a chip.

Im saying you need to get an idea if your pulse widths are within the scope of your RPM first.

Lowering fuel pressure below 43.5 psi is not a good idea. At that point you dont have a spray, you have a drip.

more like i have a flood....with it as low as it can go....meaning the pressure wise not pw the damn thing spits fuel out the tail pipes which is why i need to know if my injectors are the wrong size.

Did you reprogram the chip for 30# injectors? If not then there is your problem there.

You should be able to tune 30lbers in with relative ease.

Most folks run either 24lb or 30lb SVO injectors.

There are countless combos that have either of these 2 injectors dialed in and the cars run with no probs.

If you are having a rich problem it is not actually a fact that you have to much injector it is just that your tune is most likely poor and unable to control the injector.

There is no exact answer for your question as FP and injector constant in the .bin will be able to get almost any injector you want to run properly.

What are you looking for then?

Think of it like this:

At part throttle, say 20%, your motor is making barely any power, say maybe 100 something ponies. At that power level a 19lb injector could supply enough fuel to kkep thigs on the up and up. However at WOT you may very well need a 30lb injector if your got motor that spins to 6000+rpm and the 19lber just wouldnt cut it.

So obviously if a 19lber and a 30lber are held open for the same amount of time the 30lber will dump more gas. So at this point the only proper course to take is modify the .bin and properly dial in the 30lber, or 24lber or 28lber or 36lber or whatever, it doesnt really mater because they will all need to be tuned into the .bin

no, that was pretty much what i was looking for is what i was saying; you just went a different way about it.

the original question was basically asking how would one choose an injector is all. in otherwords how does gm decide what they are going to run.

what you said was fine which is why i thanked you.

I'm still gonna say it again.

You need to get an idea of what your PW's are at idle. You need to adjust your bin to suit your car. If you dont havea prom burning setup, stop and get one before you ruin your engine.

Kandied91z,
Go to (http://www.TPIS.com) and the to FAQ about Injectors.

Also in there TPIS book they have a chart for Injector size = Horsepower.

If I remember 30lb injectors are good to 450hp, I think.
