OK is it a 350 with 305 injectors?
I just bought this 85 TA. The 305 engine was replaced with supposedly a 350. However, I took the injector number (5235047) and looked it up online and they are 305 injectors. I asked the guy who sold the car to me about it and he said he got the engine from the paper and the guy who he got it from was a mechanic and he was sure it was a 350. Is there any way he could’ve taken the 350 block and put the 305 intake on it? He said something like that could’ve happened. It’s almost impossible to get the casting numbers from the ledge of the block so I don’t know. I’m lost and I would really like to know what I got under the hood.
Thanks guys.

As far as I know the only way to tell is by looking at the casting numbers. If it is a 350, someone replaced the engine.

I am assuming you have TPI. Yes you can use the 305 TPI intake on a 350 b/c the intakes are the same for 350s as 305s. I have the TPI setup from my 305 on my current engine. Also yes you can use 305 injectors on a 350. I did for a month but the car was nowhere near its potential with so little fuel. Full throttle would cause the injectors to be at full duty cycle which isn't good. Also there really isn't anyway to tell the difference from a 305 and 350 by just looking at it. You really need to check out the cast numbers on the block to see what the engine really is.

sorta, if it's a 350 with 305 heads you're not "breathing" any where near what you should be, and power will reflect accordingly.
You can pull a valve cover and get the head casting number to know for sure.

So you should be fine. The intake is the same for both the 305 and the 350. So is the fuel rail, the plenum, and the throttle body. From the intake up the only difference is the size of the injectors. Congrats! You should be "good to go" once you put in the larger injectors!

You might want to put L98 injectors in there. The 305 TPI uses 19# injectors and the 350 TPI uses 22# injectors. Not sure if those 19's are maxing out or hurting your performance.
