350 tpi running problems

okay, i got an 89 iroc with the 350 tpi thats bogging down on acceleration, the service engine light occasionally comes on, and the car seems to get unusually hot. it idles fine, however, and accelerates smoothly in park. it will also accelerate fine whhen you only feather the gas. first i tuned it up, then replaced the catylitic converter, thinking it may have been plugged, then took it to a shop. they said the injectors were bad, and charged me 1100 to replace them with rebuilt ones. they said that the diagnostics had shown it was running too lean previously, also. the only modifications to the car are the hypertech chip and 3.73 gears that were put in by the previous owner. could this be causing it? what else should i look at? could it be a throttle position sensor? oxygen sensor? fuel pump? the shop also thought the cat may be plugged, but i replaced it only a couple days before taking it into the shop.

holy crap, 1100 for injectors, rebuilt ones at that.

Run a can of Sea Foam throu it, you can pick it up at NAPA. It will smoke like hell, but it will clean anything and everything out of the intake and exhaust. Also pour a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the tank. Don't ever let a shop charge you to do a fuel system cleaning because they will charge you like 50-100 for a $2.00 bottle of cleaner.
