Car dies after long trips...
.....what causes this? Say i drive from PA to NJ....takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hrs to get from where i'm at to my destination. Most of the way, the car is traveling with sustianed speeds of 70mph.....when i get into town, and come to a stop light, the trans downshifts, (i can hear/feel it) and i come to a stop. Then the idle falls exteremley low, and the car wants to stall out or actually does stall out. WTF?? After i park it and it cools down for a couple hours, if i go to use it again, its fine. What could be the cause of this? There are no codes showing up.

Ignition coil. How old is yours? Mine used to do that, even checked out good on the old resistance check, but was still bad.

I've always attributed this type of engine behaviour to the fact that running for long periods of time always tends to heat soak all ignition/electrical related stuff under the hood...leading to false readings and a ****ty running motor.
Some also say it's because of the dirt, grime and sludge that gets loosened up after running for a prolonged amount of time...i dunnno..

I think its BS if you cant drive a sports car for 2+ hrs and not be ablet to expect it to have no problems. Whats the point on having one then?
