can the tpi throttle body be pulled apart?

can the tpi throttle body be pulled apart?

i want to powdercoat my throttlebody but to do this i will have to pull it apart i know the coolant cavity and throotle body cover and butterflys can be pulled apart what about the spring and shaft? anyone ever done that

My buddy hogged out his stock TB to 52mm on his 85 350 TPI Vette. When doing this he gutted it first, so yes it can come apart, but since your asking if it can be done, you might concider not doing it and just tape it off. If you thrash it, plan on spending several hundred dollars to replace it.

To get it apart, you've got to grind the center of the tab that moves the TPS. Once that is ground off, you can remove the butterflies and slide the shaft out of the throttle body. To re-assemble, you'll need to drill & tap the end of that shaft so that you can thread a screw and a washer into it. The screw & washer will hold the tab that the TPS uses back into place.

This is how TPIS does theirs.
