hsr help

im almost set on getting the holly super ram i have a custom chip already made for my 355 what would happen if i run it with that chip, and the 48mm throttle body, i know i have to have the chip adjusted to the manifold but what about the throttle body will 48mm cut it or do i have to go with a 52mm,

That would depend. If the HSR will change the air intake at all etc. then you will need another chip. Best thing to do is buy your own chip burning stuff and do your own. I'm not saying your chip will not work but I am sure it will need tweaking to get things right. I believe holley recommends 52mm for that setup but I am running 58. Many will tell you that 48 is good enough. This has been debated too many times.

i have a 355 ive been told even by my programer (fastchip) that the 48 is good for small ci motors when u get up to 377 or 383 u need to go bigger, i put the 52mm on my car and it wouldnt run for s*it. im just trying to find out if i can run my car with it for now. and as far as a diy chip i had the accell set up and ditched it cause i could never get a chip right, i dont have a dyno and i really dont know much about it

Neither do I but I bought the stuff anyway. Got a cheap laptop with an aldl cable and craigs moates stuff and I am in the process of learning it. The car probably ran like crap when you put on the 52 because of what I said earlier. There is now more air coming into the motor. That means it is affecting the set perameters on the custom chip. Once you start changing things after you get a custom chip you have to re-do it again in most cases. Do some datalogging. Read my horror thread on why you shouldn't tune a car through the mail. Here's the thread...

As I have said already...this has been debated way too much. Several people will tell you that 48mm is good for high hp engines and others will say no. Put it on and try it.

You can tune in the driveway, or on the fly with Craig's autoprom.

If you think that is hard, come and see what I can do with a little Mega Squirt.

No I see. right now Mega Squirt only controls my fuel, so I am using Mechanical advance until Ultra Mega Squirt comes out. I only have about 34 degrees total timing at the moment.
