Got the Port injected Small Block Chevy 454 Done!

Just put the finishing touches on the SB 454, running a Holley Stealth Ram intake and Sequential Port injection!

More pics at http://www.tpijeep.com/SPI454.htm

I am going to try and put it on the Dyno tomorrow or Friday and see what she will do, shooting for about 600 ft lbs of torque and 500 hp on pump gas.

Thats real nice power level your gonning for. What AFR heads are those? 210's 195's or 220's?

I think you put the fuel rail on backwards, I think the fuel crossover is suppose to be in the front or upside down. Definitely a sweet setup though. Why are you going for a higher RPM intake for a off road car? Don't you want all the power down low like a TPI has?

Thanks, The fuel and intake came with no instructions so I sorta guessed, would make sense to be down low to go around the Dizzy. The heads are AFR 210's fully CNC'd.

I went with the Steath because my current 415 falls on its face at 4000 with the stock TPI intake, figured I needed more flow and the Stealth was more cost effective over a Big Tube TPI.

I can see why you went with a HSR. Its not like you NEED the famous tuned port torque with 454 cubes under the hood!

the torque output of TPI with larger base/runners would be tremendous on that 454!!! But an HSR will make great torque as well cuz those 454 inches play a big part in taming the power band of that intake.

This is indeed a trick setup.:hail:

Would you mind going through all the non-standard sbc parts you needed to get this together. Also, how much do you think this adds to the dimensions of the longblock as far as height and width are concerned?

Well the bottom of the block is .800 wider, the heads are .325 taller and say maybe .600 wider at the top of the valve covers...

Non standard parts... Timing Chain, Oil pan, intake spacers (to make up for the wider spacing of the heads) You need a BBC oil pump shaft and a remote oil filter because the block doesn't have an oil filter provision. and longer pushrods..

The build was fairly simple as far as custom motors go.......

Where did you get the intake spacers from or are they handmade?

The intake spacers are a Dart product, I don't have the part number handy. The spacers for the front and rear of the intake had to be hand made. I just took a 1/2" thick block of hard plastic and "Hand" milled them to shape, and used roll pins to hold them in place.... ugly but effective! You can see them in one of the pictures..

TPIJeep that looks like an incredible engine project! Is it going in your 1985 CJ-7?

Can I ask a few questions? Mind if I ask what camshaft you are using? Did you get your dyno results yet? Are you doing the tuning yourself? Are you using the GM ECU or did you get the Holley Commander setup?

Its a Comp Soild Roller custome grind, short duration for torque .620/.630 lift. I am putting it on my dyno hopefully this weekend and am going to tune it out, I have the Accel Gen 7 ECM with a wideband 02 and Dual sync dizzy so tuning should be fairly easy.

Yes its going in my Jeep, wanted a hell of a lot of low end and the ability to use massive amounts of stupid pedal.

The cross over is meant to be in the front, the fuel feeds into the rear of the passenger side rail and exits at the regulator on the driver side rear. I used a straight AN fitting on the passenger rail then routed the fuel line back around the dist up against the firewall, on the drivers rail I used a 90 degree fitting. I tried a 90 on the passenger side but it was just too tight with the fuel line, dist/wires, dist hold down and vaccum fittings.

Nice job, eng looks awesome.
