Any one with AFR 180's??

how do these perform over a 195 on a 350-355 motor?

smaller ports would make more torque right? with super ram or fully ported TPI, would there be any significant power losses over the 195's?

flow numbers for CNC'd version seems to be good
pretty close to 195's. the 195's just flow more on intake but exhaust is same.

based on that, with increased port velocity, I think there is better potential in the 180's over the 195's in TPI and super ram intakes. what you think?

I'm getting them for my LB9. I think they are more suited to the 305...

A buddy of mine is installing 180 AFRs on his 350 this winter. He's short on cash, so unfortunately he'll be running the TPI for next year. But he plans on swapping his intake next year (I suggested HSR but he wants MR).

Chevy Hi Performance did an article on a 406 with AFR 180s. Not only did this engine make a lot of TQ, it also made a LOT of HP. Yes, the 406 would have made more power with 195s or 210s. But it was NOT a dog with the 180s either.

If you are looking a "torque emphasised" intake like the Superram, 180s would be a good match. If you were looking at a Miniram, I would consider 195s or (better IMO for a 350) find an older AFR 190 on e-bay.

Well, throwing all logic out the window I guess, I run a 170cc head on my 385ci motor.

Got the Edelbrock E-Tec 170 heads, and also still got the factory 48mm TB.

She dont run so bad though................

Loved your video. Shows what those "small port" heads can do on a big mouse. 48mm?

Yeah, the stocker. Dual 48mm or whatever yall wanna call it.

I know she needs a bigger TB, but right now funds dont permit for car parts.

Need to work a little harder on finally getting me a real job, now that the school thing is done..........

It would be interesting to see how much (or little) of a gain you would get by stepping up to a 52mm TB. There's been a lot of debate on the subject and you are in a position to demonstrate whether or not a TB change does anything.

It's a simple change so you could do this at the track and do a fairly good comparative test.

As for a job, I'm in the "reverse mode". I'm trying to gather all my cash together so I can retire early. Trust me, working isn't all what it's cracked out to be.

Yeah, I would like to do some experimenting. No one around me though has swappable parts for me to use, 87 vintage.

My goal is to get the car trapping up over 115MPH in the 1/4. I dont think it will take a whole bunch more as when I was at the track I was shifting it manually using the factory tach and bouncing it off the rev limiter. So I gave up some glory in my poor driving performance.

Unlike the rest of the country, now is the ideal time of year here in Phoenix AZ to get out to the strip. Gets down into the 40*s at night now. When I last hit the track with the car I think it was about 80* out.

I have 180's and think they are great. Good old SR/219/afr combo on a fresh 355. My best time so far is a 13.2 due to the 2.3 60fter on bald eagle F1's. Once tuned I should get 109mph trap speeds. All that was done to the heads was a small clean-up of the ports. Car should be good for 12.6-12.8's all day with traction. Ohh and I am running low compression as well, cause a procharger should be coming my way soon, so I probably lost a bit there.
