Question installing Ford injectors

I am in the process of installing my TPIS intake and AS&M semi-siamised runners and decided to upgrade my injectors at this time. I bought a set of flow matched 24# injectors and noticed they are shorter than the stock injectors in overall length.

Will this be a problem?
Any tricks to install them?
Do I use the stock retainer clips or leave them off?
What pressure are the Ford injectors set at?
Thanks for any and all help.
Merry Christmas.

Its not a problem. The o-rings are the same distance apart.

Use the factory clips.

People have been claiming they are rated at the same pressure... I dunno, if thats true then there is a huge variance in what comes out of the box.

Drop the pressure down if you can, unless you can change the chip. I'd say 38-40psi.

Im not where I can look at them now but it seems like they were shorter o-ring to o-ring as well as overall length compared to stock factory injectors.
I will look again when I get back home.
Thanks for the reply.

There will be no problems with the installation...they are a direct fit. The only problem that I have ran into...and you probably will to, is that even if you back the pressure all the way out at the regulator, it is going to run rich unless you have some chip work done. I backed the pressure all the way out on mine and can not get it to lean out beyond 10:1.

Thanks for the replys
I have also installed a ZZ9 cam, ported 113 D-port heads, AS&M semi-siamised runners, TPIS Big Mouth intake, air foil, & underdrive pulleys at the same time so I hope this will help so it is not to rich to drive until I can get a custom chip done for it in the near future.
Thanks for the help.

Look out...here comes an elephant...

There's been a few post showing that the guys have actually had their SVO's flow'ed, and at 43PSI?? they flow as advertised...i/e, same flow PSI as GM rated injectors.

Search the forum but look for those who flow'ed them, not who passed info (including myself) in the past

You probably have the injectors that have a metal cone on the end, it makes the injector look different when its actually not. The Ford uses a plastic cap, that is on some GM's as well depending on the year.

Check the fit anyway, I've heard some bad things about aftermarket manifolds and height of the fuel rails in relation to the injector boss.

I know the fuel rail height is different from stock but TPIS does
include spacers to use under the fuel rail to compensate for this.
You are right, my stock injectors do have the metal ends on them.
I dont remember the flow #s off hand but they are freshly cleaned and flow matched and still sealed in the individual bags.
Thanks again for the help.

Check out this link regarding the flow on the SVO's:

While we're posting up conflicting information, when I went from stock 22's to 30's, I had to set my injector constant at 33 to get it to run right.

I need that done to mine and I only went from stock 22s to 24s and am running pig rich even with the pressure backed all the way out.

2 cars with SVO 24# and had to move the IC to 24-24.5 to get it back inot the realm of running worth a D#$% :-)

Running 30#'s on the Formie now and the IC is set to 31-32.5 for them depending on what I'm trying to do at the moment and ahve been experimenting with raising the FP as well..

Maybe Ford's numbers are the pinnacle of consistency.

http://www.fordracingparts.com/downl...gs/2005-pp.pdf Page 102 (comes up as 104 on my reader).
"NOTE: These injectors are flowed at 40-psi differential pressure, and a flow data summary is included in the package."

That is below the area for their flow matched sets, but the #'s are the same for the unmatched sets above and you can see they are shared part numbers.

Just wanted to add this because there has been an awful lot of arguing over the years about who's right and who's wrong, and IMO you should take the word of the people sticking the parts in the box.

Anyone bought a flow-matched set and gotten a flow test sheet to go with it?

madmax, I agree with you 100%... I dont understand how an arguement could ever get going on this point. The Ford injectors are flowed at 40psi by Ford. This has been known for 10 years or more.

BTW: I currently run the 24s, but I am going to install 42s for the NOS kit I have in mind.

I had to get a new set for my tpi setup because they wouldnt hold pressure. They had malor run down fillinf my cylinders full of gas. I got a set of ford #19 injectors and now I can see that they are positioned differently o ring to o ring and I an going to have to remove at least .5 cm from the fuel rail mounting threaded holes on the intake to get them to work. Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Question installing Ford injectors

While its being argued over incessantly the fact of the matter is Ford doesnt make the injectors, bosch does.

Bosch rates them at 43.5 like 99% of the older return style fuel system injected vehicles.

I have had 2 sets personally tested and they flowed as advertised *by ford* (holding breath getting dizzy) at 43.5.

Have also seen 4 other sets that came out the same way.

Arguement has been over for me for a long time.

Also in my original post to this thread the FP on my Formie was roughly 48psi, hence the slighlty higher IC
