What are the typical hp and tq #'s for a TPI car?

What are the stock numbers for a TPI car (305 or 350) on a chassis dyno?

That link didn't help. Those are the hp numbers at the crank.

Figure the % of power loss, with an automatic, and manual, and take it from there, to be in the ballpark.

Stock 305's are anywhere from 185-210 rwhp and stock 350's are anywhere from 215-230 rwhp.

Some people have built some nice TPI combos but very few have gone past 300 rwhp because of the absurd air restriction around 4500 rpm. But rwtq is another thing a built tpi would have no problem getting 450-500 rwtq. Thats the beauty of the 17in long runner of the tpi produces increadible low end tq!

Personally my car dyno'd out at 243 rwhp and 343 rwtq and did a best of 13.45 @100 in the 1/4 but I have some tuning issues and 2" of vaccume at WOT so theres still room for improvement but I dont like LTR TPI anymore so its getting switched out.

Hope this helped a bit
Jason

I made 193/298 with mine. That was running really rich (10:1 A/F). Thats low for having longtube headers and duals on the car. My #s should be higher now, as I just put in a custom tune that was done by LSRacing (www.lsracingchips.com).

225 hp and 315# tq. at the wheels, car was smoking hot, guage was hitting the 220+ temp(hoping for another 10hp or so when cold, but never got chance to after cooldown)

Only mods are a slp catback, 24# svo inj. and my own prom tuning.

Ran a 14.40 w/ a 2.4 60ft and over 97 mph

Thank you sir. That was with a dying fuel pump that leaned out up top.

Since my last run I have added:
======================================
Big Mouth Manifold
Walbro Fuel Pump (255lph)
SVO 24# Injectors
Car Chemistry Insert (dumped over the axle)
Headers (Edelbrock)
AFPR
Air Foil
Custom Chip
======================================

I have purchased some other stuff too, including heads, siamese runners, ported plenum, larger gears (no dyno difference), and now have the AutoProm. Waiting to get cam and tune it up.

Now is that 185hp figure from a peanut cammed auto car? My GTP buddies say that a Lb9/auto should put down 165 tops! Now I know one of them is a fbody guy through and through, but he's mostly 4th gen.

I say my '91 Lb9/auto with a cutout after the cat should put me around 200whp, is that a fair assumption?

And my car is in excellent tune as well. Before I had the EGR fixed I was getting a converted 15.3 1/4 time with crappy performance and gas mileage (170miles to the tank). Now with the EGR fixed, gas mileage in the 240mpt range, my car feels crazy fast.

It also has stock aluminum Driveshaft and aluminum drums in the rear thanks.

Kinda wondering my number now but there are no dynos near by......so can anybody give a bit of a educated guess?

Speed Density 305 5 speed, BBK 52MM tb, MSD ignition,K&N filters,flowmaster exhaust, adujustable fuel pressure regulator at about 50 PSI, 21# Bosch injectors,every thing is dailed in and runs great and i dont know if this helps but i got all new senors you name it and its been replaced in my car

its rated at 230 at the factory but thats at the crank of course so i should have like 200 at the wheels stock but i want the numbers after my mods

That seems a little low to me....cuz that sounds like the stock numbers and after all the junk on mine i would expect atleast 210 at the wheels
