Heads/Cam 2
I've been looking at cylinder heads lately and it seems the best popular ones are the Trick Flow. I'm particularly looking at the TFS-30400006 heads.
I was considering using the GM ZZ-4 camshaft. Will this cam work well with the TFS heads? I have a stock tranny & rear gears.
Can anyone estimate the HP/TQ these two items will provide?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you for your help!

If your gonna keep the TPI, stick with an intake runner of about 180cc's. Vortec, AFR 180, Dart 180, somthing like that.

You could go with a larger cam than a ZZ4 and still pass smog. But to make everything work you must change the induction system to something better.

If I change the induction to LTR and an aftermarket intake w/ headers, should I use 64cc chambered/180cc's? Or should I step-up to 64cc chambered/200cc heads?

Trick Flow is 195cc and 64cc chambers. It all depends on what you want to do with the car. 64cc will give you better compression. 10.50 compression with 64cc, .028 head gasket, flat top pistion and about .025 at top dead center deck height.

I talked to someone at Jegs today and they said I shouldn't go over 180cc's with TPI. I didn't know if this still applied if I went to LTR and performance intake w/ headers?
Are the Iron Eagle heads better than the stock heads?
I was looking at TF but they are 195cc+.
I'm looking for a noticeable improvement over stock, but don't want to spend a fortune
Thanks!

If this works, try this. These are different makes of cams you can choose from.https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=221684

Not really sure how high? Stock redline is fine to me... i'm looking for low & mid range power.
I'm just unclear as to what heads (iron eagle, sportsman 2, etc) will provide more noticeable power than stock.
I've been leaning toward the zz-4 cam... what is your opinoin?
Should I look at the Lt4 hotcam?
Thank you for your response!

Find a cam that make the most power up to 5500rpm and 180cc heads and your long tube runners will be fine. Make sure the heads have a EGR exhaust port in it to pass smog. Don't even think about the sportman 2 heads. They ain't s@#t unless you do a lot work in them. The new TFS are 180cc. Summit has them. Crane, Lunati and Comp makes better cams up to 5500rpms than a ZZ4.

That link goes to their search feature. I asked because the only TFS heads under 195 that I found at summit were for sbf's not sbc's.
Do you have a TFS part #? I'm interested in them if they are indeed 180's.

I just saw those the other day. They have 175cc runners, 58cc chambers and 1.94/1.50 valves. Sounds like a good L98 bolt on or 305 head to me.
