i had one on my original throttlebody, a hypertec airfoil. they're suposed to add 10 hp or so. some are better then others. mine surely didn't hurt anything. BTW its for sale.....

On stock engines they have been shown to add from 0-4 horsepower...sometimes a little more. This is after adjusting the Air/Fuel ratio to compensate for the airfoil (which works for its intended purpose) on a dynanometer with before and after testing. You won't "feel" that, and will be hard to tune the extra hp potential in the real world without a dyno and a/f meter handy.
The more power your engine makes, using more air, the more effective this piece becomes...since it does help limit the "Head" loss through the throttle body opening...however small that help might be.
Once one is making High HP though, might be better to install in something like a monoblade.

It's a small piece of the puzzle, not one of the major players for enhancing efficiency...but it can help...especially if your looking for every little bit (which puts you 1st at the finish line).

My $0.02...

Why would you need to adjust the AF Ratio??

Computors do that for us....

I didnt even mean chips...Why would you need to tune the car for the extra 30 CFM the airfoil flows...EFI Systems do it for us!

I'm not saying you would, I was merely saying, that's how you adjust A/F ratio. You are right, the ECU will do it for you as long as you are running in closed loop, however, dyno runs are done at WOT and thus the ECU is in open loop. The only way to properly change A/F ratio in open loop is with a chip burn.

I suppose you could say they help, but it is a little hard to "feel" an extra 5 horsepower........

I don't think its technically open loop, but I know that when Power Enrichment is on it locks the BLM basically rendering the Oxygen Sensor useless basically making it "open loop".

I could not find the magazine article; however, Holley claims in the September 2002 issue of GM High-Tech Preformance magazine their air foil produced 5.8 hp increase. See it here:

Funny no dyno charts to back that claim up.
