How much will trap speed increase with headers and gears?

I believe my trap speed was 85-87mph when I first bought my car. It was detuned and had a bad tank of gas. I'm pretty sure water was in there from sitting so long at the previous owners house.

Anyway, the next time I go to the track I want to have gears and maybe headers. I have 2.73's and I would like to go to 3.42's and add headers. How much will my trap speed increase by adding these 2 things? Will I hit 96mph? Let's say I get slicks as well.

My best 60ft was a 2.47 with that MPH.

Trap speed is a good measure of RWHp. Do a search to find the formula. The gears wont do anything for trap speed, the headers will give you what? 10 more RWHp. I would be surprise if your trap speed increased more than 2 mph, but check out the formula.

I hope I did not burst your bubble.

I thought gears would increase your mph. That's odd.

Nope, it will usually drop your ET.

Both together will probably on give you a 2-3mph gain, because the gears are not going to help your mph usually, although it will help your ET.

heres to 4 tenths off of your time!!!

depends on your motor setup. some cars really need the gears to really fly, and do increase some mile per hour.
