New problem, more confused than ever
Okay, some of you may know the saga of mine regarding the popping through my throttle body.
Well, i figured out that when i unplugged the #4 injector, the idle did no change, and the popping was gone.
So i did the obvious, i threw a set of new 24 pound svos on there.
It does the same darn thing, pops with that cylinder plugged in, and makes no difference in idle with it unplugged.
I moved around the injector wires to check those, same thing.
Could i have a valve hung open?

A stuck/failed lifter can cause that too. I'd run a compression check on that cylinder, and probably try to adjust that rocker arm. Hope it's not a ring/valve problem.....
I'd also ohm out that injector, could be a bad one but that's not too likely that it would sit on the same cylinder as a previous bad injector (too coincidental). But I'd still check the easier stuff before pulling the heads....

in addition to what vernw said, you could also have a broken valve spring on the intake valve, what i would lean more toward is something wrong with the exhaust valve, a loose rocker arm, a broken rocker arm, bent push rod or a flat cam lobe.

well, the valvetrain appears to move freely when i ran the car with the cover off. Everything looks in order inside there.
I am going to start looking down the spark avenue

Swap that plug wire out for a nother one and put that one in its place.
My Camaro was poping from the engine, and it was the wires. They visually looked fine. No burns etc.

Have you checked the compression on that cylinder?

i had mine blew a headgasket i t made a ticking sound and when you desconected the cylinder it was lessened but still there sounded almost lkie a pressure leak. anyways you could hear it come throught the intake . it crossed the two middle cylinders so it still ran and ilded ok but had a miss. hope this helps

i would do a leak down test. the test will tell you if the valves are sealing correctly, also tell you the condition of the cylinder, rings, and gasket. From what u are describing sounds like you have a bad, or leaking intake valve. How many miles on her?

Sounds to me like one of your valves isnt sealing or seating correctly could be a burnt valve.(detonation)
If you do have a burnt valve that would explain the popping inside your intake. The cylinder comes up on the compression stroke and the air isnt being sealed in the cylinder and gets pushed back up into your intake.
Do you smell any gasoline fumes in your oil ??
