Well after having so many problems with my HEI distributor and I decided to swap to an external coil distributor from a 92 camaro.

I got one off ebay and it's ready to go in.

Anyone have the wiring diagram for an external coil distributor from a 92 that so I know how to wire it into my '85 in-cap harness?

Also, does anyone have a spare external coil mounting bracket or know where to find one? There aren't any on ebay.

Thanks!

Are there any distributor removal / installation walkthroughs on this site? I checked the tech articles and did a search but couldn't find any.

Also, does anyone know where to find an external coil mounting bracket?

wow, this will be interesting. Your 85 uses an older style 7-pin ignition module. The dizzy you got from a 92 will have the 8-pin computer controlled module. Your computer will have to figure all the ignition timing, since that dizzy has no advance mechanism. Are you putting in a computer from 92 as well? On the 8-pin module, the pins on the inside go to the magnetic pickup. the smaller external connector goes to the coil, the larger external connector goes to the computer.
