96 350 TPI into 3rd gen

I have an 87 GTA 305 TPI and I might have the option of getting a complete 350 TPI (intake and injectors) from a 96 camaro.
Could I just drop it in as is and just reprogram the computer or do I need anything else since its a 4th gen.

96 350 TPI?? are you sure you have your years right? 85-92 camaro's had TPI's

93-97 camaro/firebirds were LT1's..

if you are talking about an LT1.. you need the complete engine.. wiring harness.. PCM(computer) to make it work.. might want to try looking on the Engine swap board.

Yea guy told me its from a 96 Camaro 350 with TPI, he was just going to check compression and see how its running.
Wow, need the whole harness, sounds like a huge job, although probably worth it.
What are those engines rated at and are they strong?

All LT1 motor out of 4th gens are Tuned Port Injected. But to use the LT1 motor and intake, you would need to do alot of modifications.

Yeah, but if you say TPI, what you MEAN is an L98 or LB9. 96 F-bods of course did NOT have either, so for conversation sake, it does NOT have a TPI.

...even if "technically" it has tuned ports, and is fuel injected.

The LT1 engine does not have "Tuned Ports". They are very short runners, not purposely designed runners like the TPI was.

Early LT1's are a MPFI engine (multi port fuel injected) design (batch fire like TPI).
Late LT1's are SPFI (sequential port fuel injected) design with individually timed and fired fuel injectors.

I always thought the LT1 was designed specifically to fix the long tube "TPI" shortcomings. I guess that doesn't really make it "tuned" though.

Either way, 96 doesn't have TPI.

i find it annoying when ppl sell there 3rd gen LB9 or L98 and say its a LT1. Or when 4th gens are for sale and they say its a 350 TPI

LS6.. LS7.. THATS a corvette motor

so going back to the guy with the question... if the motor looks like it has tubes on the sides of the intake manifold.. then is a TPI.. if its kind of like a box with 3 lines on top of it.. its an LT1..
