Torqing the runners???
I got my truck running but i can here a vacuum leak on the bottom side of the drivers runner(plenum end) i used a peice of fuel line to my ear to find it.I removed the plenum and put a non hardening sealent on the gasket and there is no change. All these parts are off the same car so it is not like I have got incorrect runners with the plenum etc. Is there a procedure I am missing?? When I put the engine together I tightened down the runners on the intake then installed the plenum. Is this incorrect? What do you guys do???
Please help!!! Thanks

The few times I have done it, I have had no sealing problems. I've installed the lower and upper runner bolts hand tight (a matter of inch/pounds) then started at the lower runner-to-intake bolts, working from the center outward to about half torque (9 ft/lb). Then tighten the upper runner-to=plenum bolts to about half torque. Return to the lower bolt and torque to 18 ft/lb, again working from the center outward. Finally, return to the upper bolts and do the same. If you are removing the runners, inspect the gaskets closely for evidence of the contact area. Any places that have poor contact should be apparent.
