stupid cold start valve

hey everyone I own an '87 Pontiac Trans Am GTA and am having a hell of a time finding a new cold start valve for it. I tried checker, autozone, napa, the dealer, even Bosch directly who made the original ALL DISCONTINUED. so does anyone know where to find one save the junk yard?? also I am wondering if I can remove all components, block all passages and change some eprom settings to deliver more fuel on cold starts?.. as it is if i let my car sit overnight or for more than 5 hours "cold" then i have to spray carb cleaner in air intake and it starts up right away. like the ecm ins't pulsing injectors on cold start or somethin. spray a little carb cleaner in there boom instant start up. i do hear the fuel pump prime to rule that out.

You should be able to eliminate the cold start and program the ECM with a $6E based binary with extra starting fuel. ARAP is usually a good starting point.

Thanks for the reply Vader! well I did go to electronic school and know some basics about binary and what not but when it comes to programming eproms for an ecm I am a total newb. i was looking at the pocket programmer 2 for around $150 but looking at it i could build that for really cheap. but is there a program that will recognize home made chip burners?..

there is a company called standard motor products that produce the valve do a search on the web for there website and then add your car details to find the part

www.moates.net has a USB chip burner for $85. I switched my 86 IROC to the $6E code base and adjusted for the long cranks and no longer need my CSI.

Adjusting the base timing likely won't help. What you're lacking is fuel. You can either replace the CSV with one from whatever source, or reprogram the ECM. I've been running a $6E / ARAP based binary in my '86 TPI with no problems - other than the accelerated wear of the rear tires.

There is a lot of help available on the DIY PROM board on the site, and with Moates' burner and TunerPro software (free) you can be programming PROMs for under $100. You can either modify your stock CALPAK with a socket:

...Or purchase/build an adpater. Again, Moates.net has complete adapters, parts, and just plain instructions to build your own. Mr. Moates has always been a good supporter of tuners and an avid TGO member. It's at least worth a look.
