Ram Air Box and No Raim Air Hood?

Ram Air Box and No Raim Air Hood?
Ok my question is can you just buy the ram air box and hook it up with a stock GTA hood? Of course you can, the real question is would you want to? I know it wont function like a ram air since the hood doesnt have the ram air cut outs, but would it help my engine breathe and perform better, until i can afford to buy the ram air hood to go with it.
The main reason i dont want to buy the ram air hood right now is cuz im on a limited budget am im throwing all my paychecks into the rearend and engine right now

The airbox sits too high and the hood profile is too low.
I have looked at many options for my TA and opted to run a 4" duct to a large K&N. I have a complete 3 1/2" system with a custom air box if interested.
