good set of heads

hi i have a 91 TBI 350 that im converting to TPI and i have heard that the heads on the TBI motors were crap. So does anybody know where i can get a good set of heads for my 350.

Does anybody know how to tell what kind of motor a remanufactured ecm is off of

p.s im planning on using the chevy hot cam kit

Heads are open to discussion, so we'll let that one slide...

ECM...service number ending in 165 for a MAF setup or 730 for a SD setup (for F-bodys). Should be able to get a ECM and stock chip out of the classified for 50 bucks or less.

thanks im glad i know weather its a maf or a SD but do you know how to find out weather its a 350 or a 305 because the guy i bought it from doesn't remember

Be careful with your cam choice. The hotcam likes to make power a little higher than a 350TPI likes to rev. I'd say it's too much for a stock TPI. Now an aftermarket or ported set-up might be different.

Well...open the little cover on the ECM, and look at the chip...should see a 4 digit code (like AUJP, etc), search for the code or post here (better, post on the ECM forum) and someone will be able to id the chip init as either a 350 or 305 TPI chip....

FYI, but ECM for 305 or 350 is the same...just the chip is different

I might add, only other difefrences in 305 and 350 (afaik) is knock sensor and injectors

should be a 5.0 auto.
That means it's meant for 19 pound per hour injectors, and MAF, and has an external knock module (not in the ECU itself).
