Does this combo need a 58mmTB??? 360rwhp!

the combo is on my SIG...but ill list it again incase i missed somethings
GMPP 383 short block
TrickFlow CNC duttweiler heads 64cc
Crane Hyd roller 528/539lift 230/234@.050 1.5 rollers
Holley stealthram with a corvette 52mm TB w/airfoil funtional ram airII hood
30 lb Ford SVO injectors
granatelli 255lph intank pump
SLP 1 3/4shorties to an SLP catback
MSD ignition 6al
custom chip
aluminum driveshaft
Stock T5 trans
G92 rear coming soon w/3:73's
stock shot suspension

the cars peak torque made 388 ft lbs at about 4400rpm
peak horsepower 355 at about 5500rpm
these numbers are before the aluminum driveshaft and the SLP catback the original catback was a junk american thunder 2chamber

so would a 58mm throttlebody through a gutted mass airflow have any benefit on this combo??????????

Just my thoughts, but *if* you're able to benefit from a 58mm TB, the gutted MAF would be the restriction...IIRC, gutted MAF flows around 750-800CFM? I think the 58mmTB flows upwards of 1000CFM.

Maybe search for 52mmTB flow rates and see where you sit. If as much or more than a gutted MAF, no reason to upgrade.

To be honest, there is no reason for a 52mm even. A stock 48mm is sufficient.

yeah im pretty sure the mass airflow wont flow anywhere near what a 58mm will....so what can i do to get around it, is it worth converting to a speed density harness and computer ....or if im goin to that extent would a DFI setup be a better idea...and how costly is it?

92blue---i hear about some guys on this board makeing some good numbers with a stock throttlebody but how could a 48mm TB not hurt a stout 383...iif this engine were carbureted it would be like putting a 550 or 600cfm rochester carb on it

From what I have read, the 48mm TB flows about 650 cfm, 52mm anywhere from 720cfm to 780 cfm, and 58mm is of course 1000cfm. I will be putting a 58mm on mine once I get the money but I have speed density too.

Flow characteristics between TPI and carb are not the same, so don't base your CFM requirements off of a Carb calculator.
