An Unbelievable Fuel Leak!! Help
I changed my injectors to 30lbs-ers. Had some leak troubles everytime I charged the system. I resolved that problem when I installed the retaining clips on the injectors.
So, I buttoned everything up and tried starting the car. The car sputtered like crazy as I expected, then it began leaking like a toilet! A huge puddle of fuel gathered under the car and I don't know from where it was coming.
My questions are as follows:
1 - Although I don't think that this is the problem, what if I mixed up the fuel injector electrical plugs? Would that casue the injectors to pulse when the valve is closed thereby forcing fuel out of somewhere? How can I find out if the plugs have been switched around?
2 - If the fuel pressure is too high, would that cause a surplus of fuel to be forced past the seals? I have an adjustable regulator and it may be jacked up too high.
ANY THOUGHTS WILL BE BETTER THAN NONE!!!

At that volume of fuel (to create a puddle that quickly) - I'd look to be sure the return line(s) is tight, and the AFR is intact....
yeah my SVO 24 pounders are doing the same thing. I'm gonna try to modify them to use the fuel rail clips, we'll see how things go tomorrow morning. If you want to find the leak, have someone prime the fuel pump by turning the key part way while you watch the fuel rail.

Pay attention to the size of the o-ring on the injector vs. the size of the stock o-ring.
The inj clips are there because they came assebmled and they held the injectors in place before installation on the engine. If you need to run the clips to avoid selaing issues I would seriously suggest finding a better fitting injector.
My original SVO injectors years ago had the thicker GM style o-rings on them. The past two sets I have bought had the smaller conventional ford style o-ring on them.(I have never had an issue with them, but the isze difference is quite noticeable if u look and I always keep the orignal o-ring size)
Go to the parts store and get a new set of Injector o-rings for an equivelant GM application and you will be just fine.
