If you order the heads from AFR they can make them any way you want. Early or late bolt angles, perimeter or centerbolt style valvecovers, etc.

The AFR heads are way overkill (and expensive) for "just 300" flywheel HP.

They would be a great head if you planned on major engine mods if the future.

If you're going to be satisified with 300 HP and you're not concerned with emissions compatability, then I'd look for a set of Vortec heads

Agreed that AFRs aren't a great investment by themselves...you'd need to upgrade the cam and exhaust system to get much benefit out of them.

The Vortec head idea is a good path if the guy knows to buy a compatible intake base to go with them.

vortech heads are a good idea for 300 hp, for the price you could get the intake, headers, and the heads for less than the afr heads alone would cost maybe squeese a cam in the budget as well. not to mention the little things no one tells you you need when you use the afr heads I love them but, they are over kill for what you want

you will need to do some shopping around but, you could go way under the budget if you look at all used stuff but, the cam
