SVO injector question....

what is the actual difference in these two summitt part numbers?

fms-m-9593-B302 and fms-m-9593-B302f besides the price tag?

one says they are matched but how much more "matched can they be than the other ones? which one is the one a lot of you are putting on your cars? i'm ordering new injectors monday and would greatly appreciate any and all answers.

I bought the non-matched 24# SVO (now called Ford Racing) injectors for my reworked '87 IROCZ 350. I think that I bought these injectors about 7 to 8 years ago, still using them in my 395 cu in stroker.

The only difference is as you know, match set vs not matched.
I did not think that it was worth the difference in money.

thank you for your input doc. i didn't think there would be much difference. did you have any problems with install? i.e. fuel leakage, fuel rail clips not holding them, or have to make mods to the fuel rail? i read a thread that was from four years ago that discussed this but most of those installs were fairly new. if you have had yours this long, it seems to me you would be the one to ask.

The Ford injectors (I think) are a tad shorter, however, I made no changes or mods to the fuel rail, the fuel rail mounting post, etc. I simply inserted the injectors into the fuel rail first and I think that I used the clips. Then I worked each injectortor into their proper location in the intake manifold and then bolted down the fuel rail. I have had NO fuel leaks.

Anytime you work with the fuel system, when you are finished, I strongly urge you to turn the key to the on position and let the fuel pump come on without starting the engine. Turn the key off and check for fuel leaks.

edit: Measure the Ford injectors and the factory ones from o-ring to o-ring. You could cut down the fuel rail mounting post if you feel that the Ford injectors are too short. But as I said above, I did not do this.

thanks for the reply doc. unfortunately, as far as measuring the stock injectors, i don't have them. i'm currently running holley 30lb injectors. measuring the factory ones went out the door a long time ago.....lol

I still have my factory injectors,, IF I can find them, I will post the oring to oring measurement. My Ford injectors are in the engine, so I can not measure them.

I heard a rumor from previous threads that you must buy OEM O-rings because the fords are a little different. Smaller I think.

Older SVO's had the larger GM style 0-rings.

In the past couple of years, they have downsized the o-ring slightly.

If u compare them to the GM style o-ring , u will see why myself and a few others recommend replacing them with the larger style GM o-rings

later
