Well it's beem about 12 years since i put mine on. But if i remember correctly. I did mine from the top on the drivers side and the passangers side from the bottom. Big help for me was to loosen the motor mounts and jack the engine up. Loosened the motor mounts put a small piece of plywood on the oil pan and jacked the motor up. All in all i think it took about 5-6 hours to do. Granted at least an hour was spent scratching my head , throwing tools and aloy of profanity. I had the advantage of using a bay lift though.

Take the valve cover off and it should drop right in. I have the Hedmans on my car. I also did the motor mount trick on the pass. side listed in the prior post. Took me longer to take off the manifolds then put in the new headers.

If you take off the valve cover it will give you that extra swing room to drop it in. I also pulled the alternator for a more open work area.

ok, valve cover isnt so bad. Luckily for me i have no a/c, no blower motor, no nothing on the pass. side of car so it drops right into place o). But the drivers side is tight. I had the edlebrock headers and they pulled out with a little force but the headman's are bigger. Any more ideas?? Thanks for the help otherwise guys.

listen to what they told you... take the valve cover off and loosen the motor mount on the drivers side then jack it up. i only had to jack mine up about 1cm and it dropped right in.

i just put a set of these on last month on my t/a..

all i did was took the valve cover off and took the bolt out of the steering shaft that is just below the booster so it would flex a bit when i gently pryed on it and it fell right in w/ no problems

just put mine in tonight. Pulled out the stearing shaft bolt, took off valve cover and pryed up between the motor mount to flex the motor a bit and it went in pretty easy. But now #3 plug you cant get to unless you make a plug socket with a cut away in it. Now comes the pass. side. Just setting it in, it already hits the frame?! So i guess a put a little notch with a B.F.H.

on the pass side i took off the plastic blower motor case, dip stick tube ,ac drier, valve cover, starter and the alternator & brackets and it went in w/o touching the mounts, or boogering up the header..

finished up. Since i dont have air or a blower my pass. side is completley naked and went right in. ALTHOU i did have to "ding" the primary tube on the header a little because it was hitting the frame rail, but it was only like 1mm ding so nothing too serious. Y-pipe went in smooth, fit like a glove!! Now i just need a pipe to take place of the cat, fuel filter and goin to the track on sat. to see what she runs!!

Had no problems replacing the TES headers with Hedmans once I removed the tall valve cover for the drivers side.Had to remove the valve cover, starter & AIR stuff on the pass side. Both dropped in from the top.
