89 formula stalling problems

i have a 89 formula 350 tpi 74k orig miles.....
it was sitting for somewhere in the lines of 6 years....
i go to start it. no crank VATS problem, i put the usual new lock cylinder and key and it fired right up... now i have a check engine light that blinks on then off when it blinks it stutters coughs and sometimes backfires... when its on steady its not so bad. when its off she pulls hard and runs good i pushed on the prom and the light turned off i have a loose starter wire.. i saw in one of the posts a guy said his starter wire was the problem. its not the wire with all the fuseable links on it its the single wire i want to know if that is the problem? or it is a definate prom issue, sometimes i can hear the motor in the speakers... and the voltage drops down a bit, lights dim and it runs like total crap any words of advice? even starting problems sometimes cranks no start

There's little doubt that you have some connection problems at/in the ECM. Disconnect the battery and start checking there first.

Repair the starter wiring. You should also check the grounds on the engine and chassis. Those symptoms indicate a connection problem. The noise heard in the speakers could also indicate a failed diode in the alternator, and you may want to check that as well. Don't just start replacing parts, but analyze them first.

take the wires of the injectors one by one. after taking off one wire start the car if it runs better then you have a bad injector and it is gounding out. You can also check with a multimeter all injectors should be around 16 on resistance scale
