350 TPI + 19lb SVO injectors = ?

OK. I have read the forums for about 2 hours now and have gotten myself totally confused. I have a 1992 Formula 350 that desperately needs injectors (197,000 miles on original injectors)

From what I have read, if you run the 24lb. SVO injectors you need computer tuning...or some people did not.

I have read that you should use 19lb SVO injectors because the flow more than a 19lb GM injector. I have also read the opposite.

I have read that Ford rates their injector differently. And then again I have read that they do not.

This was all through the search button. Quite amusing actually.

So my overall idea was to get a set of 19lb SVO injectors and just run them at 50 psi. Would this work? Has anyone had good results with 19lb SVO injectors and a 350 TPI?

I have SLP headers, Flowmaster Catback, Crane AFPR. Everything else is stock.

I would rather not get a chip just yet as funds do not allow for injectors and a chip.

If anyone can shed some light on this, please please post a repsonse.

If you have a 350, it will run LEAN on 19s unless you turn up the fuel pressure alot, like 56psi.

You should only think about installing the GM 22s or the FMS 24s, and install an AFPR. You can run the FMS 24s most likely without any chip burning. I have been running FMS 24s for about 7 years now, same set, no problems with the injectors. However, I do burn my own Eproms, but you should be able to get along without it.

So if I got Ford Racing 24lb injectors, what fuel pressure would they be safe at?

I thought running a smaller injector at higher pressure would be better than running a larger injector at lower pressure?

For starters, run the 24s at your stock fuel pressure which is 43 to 44 psi.

How far do you want to go with this? any future mods?

There is very little difference in performance between lower injector at high pressure VS higher injector at lower pressure. At fuel pressures above 40 psi, the fuel will get atomized just fine. With the 24s & an AFPR, you will have room to add numerous engine mods.

If you are interested in getting the max out of your engine, think about a engine scanner which will tell you alot about how the engine is running.

If I can run the 24lb at 40?psi that would be great. This is my commuter car so max performance is not key, just fun reliable power.

No plans in the near future, but you have a good point that 24lbs. allow for future mods if needed.

What psi would you recommend starting at?

Fastbird

i have been running my L98 Tpi with the 24 SVO injectors with a AFPR with the FP set @ 38-40 with the line off. From the datalogging i have done the ECM has more than enough control in the block learn tables to correct for the larger injectors. this was all done @ part throttle driving. i also think that if you have a stock prom that it also has the ability to control the block learn tables @ WOT
