hi, i am not sure if this is the right place for this, but me and my friends were wondering if it is safe to go 180-190 mph in a lightened 350 tpi iroc?

What kind of gearing are you going to have to physically hit 190? And what tires? How much weight are you shaving. Are you adding front spoilers for downforce?

That's really not a bright idea. You would have to work on your aerodynamics and low gearing like firebirdjosh said and i hope you have some good brakes. And no, not autozone cross drilled specials. Please don't attempt this...

When air on top of the car end up being faster than the air under it, your in trouble. Take a look for yourslelf:

Actually I just learned something important from watching that video: If your car is upside down, your parachute wont work.

Anyway, if you don't even know how he plans to get it up that high, how do you even know if the car is capable of it? That TPI is going to run out of breath at some point.

yea, your L98 is gonna run out of steam at around 145, and i'm sure asphalt is as forgiving as a lake bed.

Better not say that around Gale Banks. I guess someone forgot to tell him his door-slamming, stock-bodied, AM/FM-Cassette equipped Formula really wasn't going 300 MPH at Bonneville. (Technically, since runs have to be made in both directions, they averaged only 287.) Yes, he did use a rear wing spoiler, and he did shave the door handles, but it was otherwise a stock body. And it didn't go airborne.

BTW - You won't be doing anything like that with a TPI, either.

suspension will be your main concern. It will need a lowering kit with awesome shocks and struts. The real question is not can or how it can do it. This is more of a body question than tpi, but you said you weren't sure on the forum, so we should answer it. Definately doable. do you want to hit those speeds for a few minutes or seconds. The stability of the ride is the most important issue. Subframes and shock tower braces are a must. Do not buy skimpy replacement parts at this point all strong good parts. NOT IMPOSSIBLE OR UNSAFE!!!! if enough safety and mechanical precautions are taken. A car that shouldn't go that fast is a car not made to go that fast. How will you build yours (friend)? Is the real question

Take no and when I mean no I mean no my friend put a 95' T/A into a water filled ditch @180-190 mph 2 years ago because of tires. Spare no expense on tires!!!

go to www.700r4.com and look at the speed calculator and you play with gears and tire sizes for how fast you wish to go. Then you need a engine that will handle that power, and last but not least a few mile long straight away. Please and when I say please do try it and do not do it on a single lane road or when anyone else is on the road. But definitely try it you will live a more fulfilled life.
