Alternator Install Tutorial

I must say, this is one of the easiest alternators ive done. Granted it isn't very hard, but for newbies around here it may seem intimidating.

**Always remove your battery when working on electronics or charging systems just to be safe

1)Remove Air cleaner assembly and rubber neck
2)Use a ratchet and remove the top alt. bolt (on the adjuster slide)
3)Remove Lower alternator bolt, slide it out. For guys with vbelt and ac on drivers side gently push down AC line and the bolt will slide right out
4)Be careful with the wires. You'll have to remove one plug in wire, and one screw in wire protected by a boot.
5)The removal is done

6)When reinstalling it hook both wires back on
7)Set it in place with belt off
8)Slide lower alternator bolt in and don't tighten it all the way, just enough so it doesn't slip out. I used a crayon to mark the whole so it was easier
9)Push down on the alternator and pull the belt on
10)Grab it very tightly and pull up to remove slack from belt and put top bolt back in
11)I didn't use a pryback to tighten the belt, simply my hands and the belt only has 1/2 inch or so in slack
12)Tighten bottom bolt
13)Hook up the neck/maf and dont forget the wire underneath, and then the rest of the air cleaner
14)Hook up battery and your done!

Pretty strait forward and saved me 45 bucks in labor. Cost 95 dollars for a remanufactured alternator from Advanced Auto.

If your a newbie and feel it's too hard, it's not, just go do it.
