my approach was alittle more inventive but less safe i guess. Ill post it for ya.
Got the pics
From the top

This second picture is from the front of the car.
Same scoop on both sides. This setup is safe to run through the rain with though its gonna hurt the filter. Plus, the filters get dirty a lot faster. The setup is really nice to run down the strip with no filters tho. Make sure you have screens over the front to block large debris.

Mine too, I cut mine so that it is flush with the bottome of the filters, and then I removed all the other junk that was in there(plastic baffle things.

While your in there, last week I found a build sheet while replacing my front emblem. I had my air box out and was also looking at more airflow to the filter housing. Between the front facia and the front support just below the emblem and above the licence plate bracket is where I found it. May be Z28 only?

I was just planning on doing this project! I had a question, I noticed that once I removed the piece that hold the filters there is a big plastic shield/flap that comes between the filters, and the radiator. Is this an important piece? Does it help prevent debree/water from hitting the radiator?
I have a 92 Z28 if that helps? Thanxx

supposedly, yes, youre supposed to get alot more air...but if it's going to cost me running hotter than normal i'm not going to do it. it gets hot enough during the summer here, i dont want my car to be running any hotter than it normally would

I meant removing the shield/flap that comes between the filters and the radiator. Would that let even more air in? Wether you remove it or not, cutting out the airbox is going to help.

i didnt remove anything else, just the base of the air box and left the middle strip for support for the filter

This is an idea I've been thinking about for a while. This is just a rough drawing of what I feel would be a good source of air flow without changing radiator air flow, or maybe even adding to it. By cutting out the air box on the front sides, and making openings in the front of the bumper, you would create a straight shot of air directly to it. I doubt any ducting would be needed to connect the two, but it would hurt. Maybe even an early Camaro front with the holes would have more of an original/stock look.

thats one great thing about those early camaro noses... the stock holes in the front can be used to make a ram air intake... yet look totally stock.
