STILL NOT IMPRESSED

1988 formula 350

afpr 47 psi
headman headers and y-pipe
IMCO muffler
2100 stall converter
Heavy duty tranny, (From eatmyshift.com)
march underdrive pulleys (set of 3)
cold air in take
ram air hood
proxi kumo 4's
posi rear

It ran a 9.4 in the 1/8 mile with a passanger and I only ran once.

Im not impressed at all.

does that sound right, i put alot of money in this car and i figured i would be at least high 8s in the 1/8 wtf!

what do i do? is it worth puting more money in?

Whats the state of tune?

Whats the 60ft time?

Whats the 330 time?

Lots of variables.

Is it even the original motor?

and so on?

Your 60ft was probably like a 2.05-2.20, and the passenger didn't help either.

Get some tires or practice your street tire launches by going to the track on test and tune nite twice a week and you should be cutting 1.8x 60fts, which will help. ET is about traction. A 9.45 is about a 14.8 in the quarter. You just have to dot your i's and cross your t's as far *** optimizing what you have now and you will get to high 8's.

try getting some better runners slp or as&m, also get a custom chip and you'll be surprised from the gains, i dropped 2-3 tenths with a custom chip, and 1-2 tenths with the runners.

Passenger could slow you down about a tenth or two, I believe the rule of thumb is that for every 100lbs is one tenth off your ET.

your 60ft most likely sucks, some drag radials would help that greatly, also I dont see much susspension mods done to your car either. You got to plant that power to the ground if your going to go anywhere.

What about your elevation? The higher you are the slower you go, you may have to adjust your time for the elevation.

Don't look at E.T at the moment. What was your trap speed in the 1/8 mile? Thats the true indication of how much power you're making. If you want something to compare to. I just have headers, stock 2.77 rear, stock catback with an 80 series, stock tranny, no free mods yet, and I ran a 9.33@76 MPH.

Nah...3rd gens are garbage...you should give the car to me...

seriously though, its worth it to get more out of it. Suspension upgrades and gears help tremendously.

the fastets 1/4 mile time was a 14.6 with a 1/8 mile around 9.6

That was before the tranny and with a small exhaust leak.

I figured since i have a 2100 stall i would break torque it up to 1700 rpm.

I think i'll try 1200 rpm and see what happens.

I dont have all that much money right now because it's costing me 700$ to piant it. I'm going to lincoln tech for autobody and they charge 30$ a paint hour there which is a good deal. I payed for that with my tax check. I'll have that done soon and post pictures.

And the suspension on it sucks.

What is trap speed?
i'll have to find all my time slips.

I don't know whats up with all these 350's putting up slow times (driver?) but my 305 TPI ran multiple 9.1's @ 81 at my local 1/8th. Motor only had Headman 1 5/8 shorties and a single 3" exhaust w/a Ravin muffler. If I didn't have extremly heavy chrome wheels and could drive I'd be all over 8's. I've never gotten anything better than a 2.2 60 ft. either.
I even hit a 9.4 once missing third!

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk by any means but when I started to look at others times I began to think my motor was a total freak...totally stock insides, unmolested 081 casting heads had never been off the motor.

Well then unless it's the famed 'ice-burnout,' where you're sitting in your highschool parking lot in a lineup at the end of an icy day and the riced integra behind you thinks it's funny to pull the e-brake and spin a wheel for a few seconds and you wanna show him how it's done so you brake stand it and wag your f-body *** all over the place, I'd say yeah, your posi works just fine.

In any case, I agree that you need an exhaust. And maybe better gears. With a 2.2 60' maybe your suspension needs work.

When you do the cat-back, cut off that 2.5 inch headman y-collector and put in a 3 incher.
