hard start tpi

I have an 88 tpi trans am when the car is cold , it will not start until you push the gas pedal 3 times and ounce it is started you have to keep foot on pedal until engine warms up a little and will run ok from that point. What do you think is causing that problem thanks

Pushing the pedal should have no effect at all on a TPI car, unless either:

The pedal is slightly depressed when starting allowing more air in...if so, then you may have an issue with the IAC valve.

Pressing the pedal may be freeing up the TPS, might have a dead spot in it, confusing the ECM on startup voltage, and pressing the pedal let's it sit in a different position.

Could also be a sticky throttle cable, not allowing the TPS to be fully closed, and pressing the pedal allows it to go to the proper position. (could also be caused by worn throttle shafts in the TB?)

Only thing I can think of that may be "pedal related"
