I need info about the maf tpi auto chips

my car was changed from a 305 to a 350. it is a tpi maf with a 700r4 and the car is an 86, so most components are the same. anyhow, the owner changed the chip to a hypertech and that was quite a while ago. so i need a new one now. i called hypertech and they wanted the 4 digit number on the prom chip of the one that worked, so they could line it up with what i have. does anyone know this number? also where should i look for a new chip. the crate motor isnt that far from a stock l98, so i dno if a custom tune is necessary. its got aluminum l98 heads, a bigger cam, and upgraded rockers. that should be about it. it is a zz1 motor if anyone knows specs on it. so what do you guys think i should do next?
----------
also, i have headers, exhaust, msd box, and an upgraded distributor if it makes a difference. thanks again.

IIRC, the ZZ1 cam is on the big side and will have a ruff idle. That's one reason GM kept working on the cam grind for the ZZ engines. You will need a chip to run it. A ZZ4 cam will run very similar but have better idle and work with a stock chip ok. The Hot cam will make more power and still be "ok" on a stock chip.
Tell them you want AUJM from an 89 F car and unplug your 9th injector.
You might try a search on ZZ1 cam and see what comes up.
I recall someone posting the specs around here.

o i have a little packet with all kinds of specs about the motor. the cam is 235 on both sides at .050 tappet with .480 lift. would the chip need to be completely custom, or just not a stock one. like a jet stage 2 or something, would that work? also, how would i go about unplugging the 9th injector?

The 9th inj is hooked to a relay IIRC. Unplug the wire connector.
You won't find a name brand shelf chip that will work well with a 235 @ .050 HR cam.
The best route would be to take what you'd spend on a chip and buy your own hardware to tune a chip with yourself. Or swap to a smaller yet better profile cam and live with a stock calibrated chip.

You could send you current chip in, buy a stocker and send it in, or buy one already done from whomever you choose.
Make sure they disable Vats if you go with an 89 maf chip.

ok, thanks for the help. would running on a stock chip with my setup, or like a stage 2 chip or something, give me horrible performance, or will i still be able to get around town or whatever until im ready to get the tune?
