Vortec heads

I'm looking to upgrade to the vortec head style. I know I need to modify my intake or buy a vortec style intake. My question is this. I have seen 2 part numbers roaming out the for stock GM vortecs, 062,906 I think are the numbers.
What are the differances and which ones are " better ". Also, what other pitfalls
are common that I need to look out for, IE: cracks, warping, brackets not working, ETC. Thanks in advance!!

I am not 100 % , but I 5think one base is for a 9th injector setup , and the other is not.

you're probably already are aware but.....

the tpi won't work with you current intake manifold.

of course you could upgrade to a HSR when you do the heads.

If you go to the Sallee Chevy message boards, the administrator has a good thread on the L31 heads. Both are equally as good. He says he knows from testing that they are both great heads, and there is no difference. I have both types on different engines, and can tell no difference, even visually.

Also, the vortec style tpi intakes have a vette style egr system if you have to have egr. I got my intake from Street & Performance and they sent an instruction sheet that shows a kit, but I found a vette heat tube that runs over to the #8 header to which you weld a pickup for the tube to bolt to. I used vette headers w/vette tube, and had no problems. Then, I took it all off, and blocked egr. It's not required in GA on older cars. I am installing a Ramjet intake on the other engine. They have the Vortec bolt pattern. You can get S10Wildside to make you a harness if you need one.

One is for the HD 350 IIRC and has seat inserts on the exhaust.
Some will have a little step left from the insert install.
10 sec on each port with a grinder should fix that.
