For some reason the TPI engine I got came without the cold-start-switch. Since I am getting ready to start the engine after putting it in a '69 Camaro, I need it! It sits right above the 'coolant temp sensor'.
The engine is a '89 Firebird 305 TPI. The wiring will be Painless...
What I need is a Delco part number so I can go to my GM dealer end order it.
Hope anyone can help me, I tried a search in these here forums but I couldn't find the 'search' button. The thing is a bit of a mystery... All part #s are in the Painless manual, except that one. If I Google it doesn't show up, even the GM parts online catalogs make it unfindable...
Funny, he said he has an 89 305... that means there wasnt a cold start to begin with. Explains why its not there. Anyway the factory part if you actually needed one is a Bosch part and was used from 85-88. It also fits some VW's but I forget which.
What chip are you using? Thats a little more important. If its an 89 chip, you need the VATS setup in the car or you need to disable it in the chip.
rick,
if you do need one, you can get one from TPI PARTS if you aren't certain about the year, check to see if you have the provisions for a cold start injector in your driver side runner.
'89 is the year they stopped the ninth injector... The engine that I have before me is a 'yes-no' case probably. Some of the parts are there, some are not. There was a CSS, but it was taped to the outside of a heaterhose... And there is a ninth injector on the manifold! Also there is a hole for the CSS, right above the coolant temp sensor.
If you wanna check for yourself, come and see, the car and engine are in The Netherlands, that's Europe!
Anyway, the engine was dumped with us, told to be a '86 350 from a Z28 Camaro. When we checked the engine # the outcome was: '89 Firebird 305...
I am just the guy turning the wrenches, owner came up with the engine... After a lot of checking and studying I am nearly there, just need the funking CSS.
Thanks Freestylzz,
I'll look into that! Difficult is, the nearest GM dealer is far away... normally I order parts through a parts guy. Special orders are non refundable...
So I'll do the next best thing, I'll come to the US! Next month I'll be spending my holidays in California, see if I can find me a GM dealer!
And if you don't find it and trust in me to send it to you, I don't mind. I have a Paypal account with over 200+ positive feedback and I'm willing to help you out by sending it to you overseas if you'd like.

Thread is 15 years years old man and he hasn't been active since 2013, you'll be better off searching the part number yourself. There's one listed on ebay but it's from a corvette parts guy so it isn't cheap. Goodluck.
Actually scratch that, it's out of stock. You'll be better off deleting the cold start system as described above.
Found the Switch, Cold Start F/inj (AC Delco 212-312) searched both the AC number and 19244930. Summit Racing has 2 left for a decent price. Others wanted from $ 137.00 to $ 250.00. My car is a 1986 IROC with the 305 TPI engine(LB9). Going thru the motor now. Replacing all the original sensors.
In checking the fit it lists all the 305 motors used in trucks etc. It connects to my Painless wiring system. Summit part # ADO-213-192. My connector looks like this
