A zz4 with stomp all over a stock L98 but L98s can easily be modded to run better than a zz4.As for the LS1, I have a zz4 and will run neck to neck with a stock 02 ss camaro but LS1's are easily modded to out run me.LS1's are a superior design to the zz4.My brother had a LS1.My motor makes more torque but his made more horsepower.Just depends on what your goal is.

Do you have a stock TPI 350?If so you are going to need several mods to get in the 13s.I think they run 14.4 at the fastest in the 1/4mile.What do you have done to the car if anything? Here are some mods you can do to help reach your goal.
headers and exhaust
aftermarket intake base and runners
a bigger throttle body
sticky tires
higher stall converter
All of this will go a long way. Should be able to run 13s easily with just bolt ons.

Bigger TB shouldn't be necassary at all, you should try all of the free mods, and check what gears you have, if you have the 2.77's or 2.73's I would swap up to 3.23's or 3.42's. I would recommend headers, good exhaust (3in at minimum) and a stall this coupled with all of the free mods should get you into the 13's with sticky tires. If you're going to be building the motor port the heads and install a bigger cam that should definetly get you to your goal. TPI's are extremely fun on the street, the throttle response is amazing, it looks really cool, and should be more efficient than a carb.

I hit my goal of 13.9's on a stock 87 TPI engine with almost 200,000 miles on it after a valve spring swap, TH350 swap and a 3000rpm 9.5in stall and tubular lower control arms (wheel hop sucks!). This was on ET Streets but my 60 foots were no better than when I had Firestone Firehawk street tires (2.0's). I siamesed the intake and runner entries, and found that I had a completely dead rear shock, once these are on I'm hoping for a 13.7. This same car on the same day also did a pair of 12.6's on a 150 shot with the NOS 5151 kit.

So, what would you guys guess a '87 iroc rebuilt 350 TPI run with the following mods: long tube headers, off-road Y pipe, 3in exhaust, mild cam, 3.23 gears, 700r4 tranny? Just curious.........thanks, Nick.

With all of the free mods done, in good tune, and traction: 13.7's conservative guess.
