will high tps readings affect anything

I have 91 sp 305 I have put a new throttle possition sensor on and it reads .88 at idle. I think it supose to be like .71. Will this affect the way the car runs or does the computer learn that this is my idle reading. Other than high idle readings it seems to work fine. reads 4.5 at wide open and reads everywhere inbetween. The one I replaced was reading 1.5 at idle.

If I'm not wrong the ECM calibrates the TPS to 0% when you start the car so I think it doesnt affect anything...........

U prolly have a little wiggle room to adjust it slighltly, both my 91's did. Nothing like the older 89 down cars however :-)

If it bugs u a lot just buy the TPS from an older car same thing just slotted.

Before you do that, have you gone thru and reset the IAC per spec.

Might come down some, especially if the car wasnt 100% the last time it was set if ever.

anything below 1v the car will recognize as zero.

later
