LT1 intake swap for TPI setup?

I have done one of these swaps and it works great. Is anyone else interested in having someone do it for them? We put one on my cousins 89 Iroc L98 the fastest the car would go was 14 flat, now the car goes 13.5's no problem. and it's still got the stock bottom end, stock cam, 1.6 RR's on ZZ4 heads. If anyones interested let me know i have one being done up right now. also how much would you guys be willing to pay for a complete manifold w/rails?

I'm the cousin and believe me the intake worked great and actually the previous owner of my car could do no better then a 14.4. After putting just an intake, heads and 1.6 roller rockers I ran a 13.5 on street tires. I think I could do better if I could shift alittle faster, but thats what I could do so far. Like my cousin said, if anyone wants a real horsepower gain from an intake we will be making these intakes. We just setup a little shop and our first LT1 intake to be worked on should be here by friday. If you have any further questions you can e-mail us at J_RPerformance@yahoo.com. Soon enough we should have a website.

Are you positive that the gains never came from the heads? Not the intake?

I have a LT1 converted intake waiting in my garage for my 383 so this is interesting,.

I think the heads may have been a good portion of the gain, but I couldn't say for sure. I know when I installed a TPIS Miniram (similar to the LT-1 intake, but certainly not the same) on a stock 1987 L-98 it was a torque vs. horsepower trade-off. What it gained over 4500 it gave back below that point. Unfortunately with the stock valvetrain there wasnt much left beyond 4500 before valve float (maybe 5500). End result was a car that ran virtually identical ETs but at a higher MPH.

I'll also admit to another reason my example might not be a good one...... we didn't change anything in the chip programming. We just let the MAF system deal with the changes in airflow on it's own the best it could. I'm sure that probably wasn't optimal.

Without getting into the specific numbers, the LT1 will make more peak HP than the TPI. There are SEVERAL people who have done this conversions here on TGO. I would say it's certainly a good option for people looking for a cost effective intake upgrade.

That being said, you really can't be advertising the service. There is a LONG time business here on TGO that converts LT1 intakes, and even they are not allowed to post advertising since they don't pay to be a sponsor.

You can feel free to post in the classifieds however.

I'm not gonna lie a good amount of performance came from the heads. For $700 I better be getting some power, but just heads would not drop my time by almost one second. WIth the LT1 intake my car really pulls in the top end. Since I'm being told we can't advertise like this we'll put them in the classifieds and have a website soon like I said.

Mentioning it is no biggie. Links to your site in your signature is fine too.

...and it's not like your posts are really a problem. The problem is if someone were to start replying to every other TPI thread with offers of building a converted LT1 intake. Next thing ya know, spam is everywhere, sponsors start getting upset, cats and dogs living together......you know the drill.
